V5Cs displaying incorrect information

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has said it is aware of a V5C issue since the introduction of the Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) for electric vehicles on 1 April 2025.

The DVLA is aware of a problem where Vehicle Enquiry Service (VES), View Vehicle Record (VVR) and special notes on the V5C are displaying the incorrect Additional Rate of Tax (ART) information for some electric vehicles. ART affects M1 vehicles with a list price of £40k or more.

The body is also aware of the same information being incorrectly displayed for electric vehicles in the disabled tax class.

The DVLA would like to assure those affected that the tax rates charged are correct and motorists will not be charged ART if it isn't applicable to the vehicle they're taxing.

The ART issue is being investigated, and the DVLA is working on a fix but do not currently have a timeline to share.
