National Highways has advised of emergency closures on 17 and 22 December 2025, to undertake vital repairs to enable safe and reliable journeys on the M6 motorway between J36 and J39.
There will be two separate closures to complete the work:
- The M6 northbound between junction 36 and junction 39 between 8pm and 5am on Wednesday 17 December 2025
- The M6 southbound between junction 39 and junction 36 between 8pm and 5am on Monday 22 December 2025
Diversion routes will be clearly signposted at M6 junction 36 via A590, A591, A6, M6 junction 39 and vice versa.

National Highways would also like to remind drivers about major infrastructure works on the M27 led by Hampshire County Council.
The M27 will be fully closed in both directions between Junctions 9 (Whiteley) and 11 (Fareham) from 8pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025 until 4am on Sunday 4 January 2026.
