UK plug-in car registrations surpass 2014 total

Some 14,586 new plug-in cars have been registered in the first half of this year – more than were sold in the entire year of 2014.

Some 14,586 new plug-in cars have been registered in the first half of this year – more than were sold in the entire year of 2014.

This marks a 256% year-on-year growth, with just 4,096 new ultra-low emission vehicles registered between January and June 2014.

The news comes as electric vehicle charging point operator Chargemaster announced it is to add an additional 2,000 units to its Polar network – 1,000 of which will be in London.
