Quarterly Leasing Survey published

The BVRLA’s Q1-2020 Leasing Survey showed positive results for both cars and vans following a poor preceding quarter and before the impact of Covid-19 hit.

The BVRLA overall fleet for cars and LCVs was reported at 2,562,683. This is made up of 83% cars (2,137,842) and 16% LCVs (424,841). The numbers include all cars and LCVs in the BVRLA fleet except PCP, daily rental and credit hire.

2020 Q1 figures showed some evidence of recovery with just 1.4% reduction in reporting group size in Q1 compared to a 2.0% reduction in the preceding quarter.

This recovery may be due to a short-lived surge in confidence after UK Government entered a transition period, formally leaving the EU, after a period of uncertainty which may have suppressed confidence in the economy, and therefore reduced fleet sizes.
