Net Zero Review launched to support UK's climate commitment

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid has launched a review that will determine how the UK ends its contribution to global warming.

The Net Zero Review will assess how the UK can maximise economic growth opportunities from its transformation to a green economy, a step towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The BVRLA welcomes the Review as the association and its members have an influential role to play in the delivery of the target. The BVRLA will be actively engaging with ministers and government officials during the Review.

The Review is an opportunity for Her Majesty’s Treasury to use tax and incentives to help our sector put more electric vehicles (EVs) on the UK’s roads.

The Review will consider how the UK can cut emissions without seeing them exported elsewhere. The Treasury will consult widely, drawing on evidence from experts, as well as those that will be impacted.

A final report will be published in autumn 2020, ahead of the UK hosting the UN climate change conference in Glasgow in November next year.

The BVRLA is leading a campaign to secure clarity from the Government on the future of Plug-In Car and Van Grants.
