More than three quarters of BVRLA members concerned about vehicle supply

Supply chain-related challenges are the primary areas of concern for nearly nine out of 10 industry professionals, according to the latest BVRLA Business Impact Survey.

With vehicle supply and wider supply chain issues predicted to continue well into 2022, they were collectively cited to be the biggest challenge to fleet operations next year*, according to the senior industry representatives to take part in the survey. Other areas of concern include regulatory or tax burdens, staffing skills shortages, and access to finance.

The survey results show that the impact of the ongoing semi-conductor shortage – and knock-on effects to the vehicle supply chain – has grown when compared to six months ago. This has led to increased vehicle delivery lead times; ICE vans have seen the biggest increases across respondents, with many orders having been delayed by over six months.

Beyond the challenges being faced by the industry, the Business Impact Survey looked at member views on how the landscape will look in a post-pandemic world, exploring topics such as business travel, attitudes to mobility and the transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The findings of the survey will be discussed as part of the BVRLA’s final Industry Outlook webinar of the year, taking place on Wednesday 17 November from 9am. Open exclusively to BVRLA members, Industry Outlook: A spotlight on 2021’s key trends will also include speakers from cap hpi, Auto Trader, APD Global Research, Ford Fleet Management, SOGO and Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.

BVRLA members can register for the webinar online.
