Members can shape UK Decarbonisation Delivery Plan

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) has invited the BVRLA to help shape the UK’s Decarbonisation Delivery Plan and members are being invited to provide input and share views.

The Plan, which aims to set out the path to 2030, will include critical milestones and address issues that need to be overcome relating to supply, demand and infrastructure.

OZEV officials will be inviting members to provide early feedback on the Delivery Plan at the next EV working group taking place remotely on Wednesday 24 February.

BVRLA Senior Policy Advisor, Catherine Bowen, who chairs the EV Working Group said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for members to have direct and meaningful influence at the right time in the policymaking process. Road transport decarbonisation remains a key priority for the Government and officials at the highest levels acknowledge the important role our members play in delivering the UK’s zero-emission goals.”

As well as working closely with OZEV, the BVRLA also engages regularly with the Department for Transport, HM Treasury and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The association recently submitted a response to HM Treasury’s Net Zero Review, emphasising:

  • The need to reform Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) as soon as possible
  • HM Treasury must give cost certainty around transport taxes to drive decarbonisation
  • Creative policy thinking is required to reach net zero.
