Electric Vehicles Energy Taskforce and Working Group

The BVRLA has been asked to chair the Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce which is leading the way on smart charging for fleets.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Energy Taskforce has been established at the request of the Government to make recommendations to them and the wider industry to help stimulate the mass take-up of electric vehicles and ensure that the British energy system is ready.

The work of the EV Energy Taskforce will focus on four workstreams:

  1. A common strategic understanding of the requirements of the energy system to support mass EV uptake.
  2. Engaging EV users in smart charging and energy services.
  3. Smart charging technical requirements.
  4. Accessible data for decision making.

The BVRLA also hosts an Electric Vehicle Working Group, which convened for the first time on 3 April. During the first meeting, key issues relating to the uptake of electric vehicles were discussed, including charging infrastructure needs.
