BVRLA responds to Consumer Contract Regulations review

The BVRLA thanks members for their input to its formal response to Government on the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013.

The Regulations govern:

  • the information which a trader must give to a consumer before and after making a sale,
  • how that information should be given,
  • the right for consumers to change their minds when buying at a distance or off-premises.

The BVRLA has called for the review of the Regulations to be used as an opportunity for simplification and enhancement of consumer protection and customer experience.

The amount of information currently required to be provided to customers sometimes results in an ‘overload’ which could cause confusion for the consumer and lead to misunderstandings between them and the trader.
