The association has written to Transport for London, opposing its plans for an increase in the penalty charge notice costs for congestion charge and red route offenses. It also asked the authority to make the legislative changes that would enable leasing companies to transfer liability to offending drivers.
The BVRLA has also responded to a joint select committee inquiry into air quality, calling for:
- A comprehensive set of Clean Air Zone guidance to ensure consistency in terms of standards, enforcement, timescales, and charges.
- An orderly and well-signalled plan to assist the transition from older, diesel vehicles to newer cleaner ones, taking into consideration potential impacts upon the national and local economies.
