BVRLA shared the stage with the Transport Minister last month to debate the Future of Mobility, one of the four ‘Grand Challenges’ within the UK Industrial Strategy.

The Industrial Strategy, published by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in November 2017, highlights four ‘Grand Challenges’ which focus on the global trends that will transform our future: Artificial Intelligence and Data, Ageing Society, Clean Growth and the Future of Mobility.

BEIS invited the BVRLA to join Transport Minister Jesse Norman alongside a couple of other industry leaders to discuss the future of mobility. The debate was hosted by the Resolution Foundation and chaired by Lord Willetts.

Speaking at the event, BVRLA Director of Communications Toby Poston said: “This Future of Mobility Challenge should not just be about new technology, infrastructure and business models. The UK can also set the pace by creating a regulatory and fiscal environment that supports this great leap forward.”

The BVRLA will explore the topic of future regulatory requirements in its new report on Connected Vehicles and Data which will be unveiled at the association’s Fleet Technology Congress on 5th July.

The report will provide:
• A perspective on how OEMs are embracing connected vehicle services and using data
• An outline of the key vehicle data platforms and their approach
• An insight into the connected vehicle and data strategies being taken by leading rental and leasing companies
• A look forward to the key challenges and opportunities that the industry faces in the future.

Members who have not yet booked a place are encouraged to book now via the BVRLA website.
