BVRLA joins the call to legislate for 2050 climate neutrality

The BVRLA has joined over 120 leading UK businesses, investors and industry bodies to call upon the government to put climate neutrality by 2050 into legislation.

In an open letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, sent on 31 May 2019, CEOs from across the economy have called for swift action, urging the UK Government to accept the recommendations of the Committee on Climate Change and lead the way by becoming the first major economy to legislate for an ambitious, domestic decarbonisation target that delivers net zero by 2050 at the latest.

The final letter has 128 signatories and was sent to the PM, copying in the Chancellor, the Foreign Secretary and the Secretaries of State for BEIS, DEFRA and DfT, as well as the Minister of State for Energy and Clean Growth, encouraging them to support the PM in taking swift action on this.
