Understanding UK Commercial Vehicle Legislation - Instructor-Led Course

If you are involved in renting or leasing light or heavy commercial vehicles you should be aware of the fundamental legislation and regulations that underpin the correct operation of these vehicles. This course is designed to provide the delegate with an overview of not just the legislation but also the terminology to help you provide valuable advice and support to your customers ( fleet operators and drivers) on the important aspects of running a van or truck.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course attendees will:

  • Have the confidence to communicate with drivers, customers and fleet operators regarding the fundamentals of van and truck legislation

  • Have awareness of the current legislation and regulations for both vans and trucks
  • Develop an understanding of driver licencing and keeping your company legal.

Trainer

Tim Campbell has 30 years’ experience in the UK commercial vehicle industry, he has worked at National Fleet and Director level working for both contract hire and leasing companies and also two van and truck manufacturers. He has helped in the setting up of three manufacturers contract hire and leasing companies also helping train the staff and management. For over 15 years he headed up the UK's largest commercial vehicle market research company as well as  offering training and consultancy services to many UK and European household names. 

As far as training is concerned he has worked with major commercial vehicle manufacturers such as Ford, Vauxhall, Fiat, Iveco, Nissan, Opel, Citroen, and Renault as well as speaking at conferences around the world, specifically in Europe, North America, Dubai and India. He also has extensive knowledge of designing and producing training material on commercial vehicles as well as acting as the Master Trainer for European OEM's.

By managing such large vehicle fleets, he has gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of fleet management, including vehicle acquisition methods, cost control, driver risk, and vehicle choice list analysis. A subject matter expert in the adoption of electric commercial vehicles into company fleets, Tim also acted as the senior consultant to the UK's National Grid ( Ventures) looking at the strategy required to implement electric vans and trucks over the next 20 years. 

Since 2013 has run his own fleet consultancy business with the aim of helping businesses manage their vehicle fleets more effectively and future proofing the fleet by implementing the transition to 100% electric or Hydrogen Fuel Cell by 2030.

Cancellation Policy 
Requests for cancellation of a training course booking must be received in writing via email to [email protected] for the attention of the Learning and Development Professional. Requests for cancellation received more than 30 days prior to the course start date incur an administrative charge for the processing of the refund at the rate of 25% of the course fee. Requests for cancellation received more 15-30 days prior to the course start date incur an administrative charge for the processing of the refund at the rate of 50% of the course fee. There is no refund on cancellations made 14 days or less prior to the course start date as there is an impact on other delegates who have booked to attend and could result in the course being cancelled overall.

Postponements
Postponement of attendance from one course to a later course can be requested in writing as per the cancellations policy above to training @bvrla.co.uk. Requests to postpone more than 30 days prior to the course start date will incur an administration charge of £35 + VAT. Requests to postpone more 15-30 days prior to the course will incur an administration charge of £70 + VAT. Requests to postpone 14 days or less prior to the course will be treated as a cancellation, with no refund payable.

Substitutions
You can request the substitution of a delegate for another in writing as per the cancellations policy above to [email protected]. There is no charge for this. Requests for substitution must be made no later than one business day prior to the scheduled course start date.
