In relation to recent press coverage surrounding car rental broker Atlas Choice, the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) can provide the following comments:
Please note that Atlas Choice is not a member of the BVRLA and is therefore not covered by the association’s Code of Conduct.
If you have arrived at the rental desk to find that your booking has been cancelled or is not being honoured:
Customers who have booked a car rental using their credit card should contact their credit card provider to ask if they will be covered by Credit Card Protection.
Customers who have made a payment using a debit card:
Whilst this is not covered by the Consumer Credit Act, customers should contact their bank for further assistance.
Customers can choose to make a new booking and can use the BVRLA Rental Directory to find a local car rental provider.
If you have been contacted by a car rental provider that wants to charge you for a rental that has not been paid by your rental broker:
The ability of a car hire company to charge you for a past rental will depend upon the terms and conditions of your rental agreement with that company and the voucher issued by the rental broker.
