Electronic BVRLA FWT Guides

ImageThe Fair Wear and Tear guides for drivers and operators of leased and financed cars, contract-hired, leased and financed light commercial vehicles and minibuses up to 17 seats and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gvw, are available to corporate and leasing broker members.

The digital platform is an easy reference tool for customers, book-marked and indexed with zoom facility, navigated by using ‘next page’, ‘previous page’ and ‘back to contents’ links on every page. If you are a corporate member, you can personalise the guide your corporate branding (logo on cover and a full page advert on page 2, which means your name and branding remains in front of your client alongside the ‘industry’ and ‘BVRLA’ branding. It can be embedded onto your website in a password protected area, allowing your customers access to the guide wherever they are in the cycle e.g. at tender, submission of a proposal, acceptance of proposal, at new vehicle delivery, for any in-life queries, 10 weeks before end of contract, at end of contract.

The guides are available through an annual licence fee which is calculated according to members’ fleet sizes. The annual licence for the electronic Guide means...

  • Updating the Guide is the responsibility of the BVRLA so you are relieved of the administrative burden
  • The Guide’s content and text will be reviewed at least every 3 years, under the control of the appropriate BVRLA committee, thus ensuring improved asset management and cost savings
  • Save production costs in developing, producing, distributing and enforcing your own version of end of contract standards
  • Customers, fleet managers and company car drivers will come to recognise and understand the standard more readily – especially when they use more than one fleet supplier
  • Your out-sourced inspections agent will be more easily trained when it comes to end of lease inspections and process, this means greater reliability and fewer customer contacts
  • If you use more than one out-sourced inspections agent trained to apply the BVRLA industry standard, it will be easier to manage performance and consistency
  • The BVRLA industry standard is an exacting but fair standard, when (if) you make concessions i.e. apply a more generous interpretation of what is chargeable, your generosity will be more apparent to the client
